Our Story
Carbon Drive GmbH has its roots in the Institute for Lightweight Design and Structures of the Technical University Darmstadt.
“The groundwork for Carbon-Drive’s expertise was established during Prof. Schürmann’s tenure at TU Darmstadt. This included developing calculation methods for anisotropic materials, processing fiber composites, and a fiber-oriented design. At the Lightweight Institute, significant attention was given to pressure tanks, springs, and drive shafts made from fiber composites. Numerous products originating from this research have successfully transitioned into industrial applications. Our goal is to carry forward this innovative spirit and enable a significant advancement in drive technology.“
